Senior Night Out

Hey Seniors!  We are going to be having a night out ON US!  Mark your calendars for Friday, May 25th from 5-10pm.  We will be taking you all out to dinner and a fun time at the city museum .  We will also have a small gift for you at the end of the evening.  Hope you can make it!

Last night during my message I was reminded of how poorly we think of ourselves.  It will not take a long field trip to your Facebook news feeds to see this.  Again and again I see girls asking the question, “Am I beautiful”?  And you see boys portraying themselves as someone they are not to gain acceptance among their peers.  It burdens my heart to see how we as Christians can find ourselves doing the same thing.  Ask yourself this question this morning, “Where do I find my self-worth?  Where do I find my identity?” I think many of us begin to agree with the labels that we ourselves give us or that others/society put(s) on us; that we are ugly, weird, stupid, no good, useless, etc.

Last night as I was reading through our passage in Psalm 139 I was reminded that God has not made us by accident.  He made you for a purpose.  As the Psalmist says in verse 14, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

Do you know this?  You are fearfully and wonderfully made!  God made you!  He intricately put you together exactly how He saw perfect. And what do we know about God, His works are wonderful.  Do you praise God for this?  Do you lift up His name high for how He has made you?  Do you praise Him even when it seems like you are the black sheep of society?  I pray that you will understand this truth in scripture today.

Spend some time in prayer this day thanking God for creating you according to His purpose and good will.

Ben’s Thoughts

I am trying something new on here.  Each day with the exception of the weekend (Friday and Saturday), I will be doing a little section I am calling “Ben’s Thoughts”.  My vision for this is to allow our students to respond to our messages and to hopefully answer any other random questions they may have about Biblical topics.  I also hope for this to be a resource for the parents of our students as well.  I know that many of you are unable to attend one of our regular meetings and hopefully this will give you a taste of my teaching style and what I am teaching your children as well.  If you wish to get these daily thoughts sent directly to your email account, sign up to follow this blog in the box to the right!  I pray that God will use this as an opportunity to build community and depth within CSM.  Blessings.

30 Hour Famine Recap

This past weekend was amazing!  I cannot express how amazed I am at how our great God works in our lives.  Not only did our students raise enough money to keep 10 children fed and healthy for a full calendar year, but they got to understand God’s love for those children and to reach out and serve those in our local community who are also in need.  This weekend was truly a blessing to be a part of.

One thing that was so amazing was that we chose to send our funds that we raised to children in the country of Burundi, a small nation in Africa.  It was great to see that we could be a blessing through our funds but God wasn’t done there.  On Saturday we joined with New City Fellowship to help with some different service projects around the city.  We were given the task to work in an international garden that is used to strengthen the community among Refugees from Burundi!  How wonderful is it that we not only got to see our funds go to these people, but we also got to physically be a blessing in the lives of a few of the people from Burundi!

Please continue to pray with us as we lift up the cause of those who are in need!  Thank you everyone who helped and supported us through this event.
